WASHINGTON, D.C. —  Public Wise, an organization fighting to secure a government that reflects the will and protects the rights of the people, released the following statement in response to the SCOTUS’ decision on the Trump immunity case:

“In an unprecedented and dangerous move, the Supreme Court of the United States decided that some individuals should not be held accountable for planning and inciting mass acts of violence against the Vice President, members of Congress, and the dedicated support staff who were working at the US Capitol on Jan 6th. Instead of upholding the constitution and our democracy, Justices Roberts, Gorsuch, Thomas, Alito, Kavanaugh, and Coney Barrett prioritized politics and set a precedent that endangers our democracy for generations to come. Insurrectionist sympathizers Justices Thomas and Alito should have recused themselves from the case. This is a stark reminder of the role presidents play in nominating supreme court justices, one we shouldn’t forget come November.”
