Public Wise Addresses Trump Election Interference One Month Before Election Day

WASHINGTON, D.C. — With one month until Election Day on Nov. 5th, Christina Baal-Owens, Executive Director of Public Wise, issued the following statement:
“Trump and his allies started sowing the seeds of election denialism before a single vote was cast. This week, we got further proof of Trump’s willingness to undermine our democracy: Senator Vance refused to concede that Trump lost the 2020 election on the debate stage this Tuesday, and Jack Smith’s filing in Trump’s election interference case revealed that Trump himself knows that he lost the election. Disinformation is part of the MAGA campaign playbook and, for the GOP, this election has the potential to be a culmination of a years-long effort to undermine our democracy and chip away at our fundamental rights.
“At Public Wise, we know that democracy and supporting free and fair elections is a winning message in 2024. Across the board, polling and data, including our own, show that protecting democracy is a key issue for voters. Ultimately, this election is about so much more than democracy alone—it is about our reproductive rights, our climate, our schools, our public safety, our economy. But for our voices to be heard on all of these issues, we need to fight for our democracy first.”
