WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the verdict in former President Trump’s New York trial, Christina Baal-Owens, Executive Director of Public Wise, issued the following statement:

“Trump has secured his place in history as the first U.S. president with felony convictions. Trump has shown time and time again that he will stop at nothing to stay in power. Despite what Donald Trump and his allies may claim, even former presidents are not above the law and our legal system is not rigged just because it held him accountable.

“This trial was critical to give voters a chance to go to the polls in November with more information on the character and conduct of the leading Republican candidate. Americans deserve more than a corrupt felon in the White House.”
