Harper v. Moore should have been unanimously condemned by the Court

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Public Wise, an organization committed to fighting for a multiracial democracy that reflects the will and protects the rights of the people, released the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court Moore v. Harper decision:
“The Supreme Court made the right choice for our democracy today by striking down a widely discredited, baseless legal theory peddled by power hungry, anti democratic extremists. But let’s be clear; Harper v. Moore should have been unanimously condemned by the Court. We have three current justices willing to undermine our institutions and betray our Constitution in pursuit of a decades-long campaign to take us back to an America that only works for the white and the wealthy few.
“Today’s victory is just one part of the battle to rebuild and expand our democracy. The work continues. We cannot lose sight of what is at stake as we head into the 2024 election cycle, with election deniers, insurrectionists and anti-democratic forces on the ballot at every level of government,” said Eli Szenes-Strauss, political director of Public Wise.
